Worksheets for struggling readers

I am tutoring a second grader in reading. One of the biggest struggles she has is choosing a book that is at her level, or what we call a "Just Right" book. So I made a handout that I posted in our work area. While we read a book, I ask her if she to go over the check points to see if this book would count as a "just right book". I published it over at Teachers Pay Teachers for free.

I also made a list of skills that make a good reader, but I knew she would have a hard time reading all of the sentences, so I made a little box next to each skill so she could illustrate what the skill would look like in a way that she can remember. We go over the skills before we start reading aloud, and it is very helpful. Click here to download the .pdf.
